Tamarind and date Chutney is also known as Imli chutney (Imli is the Hindi word for tamarind)/ sweet chutney. Tamarind and date chutney is a spiced, sweet and tangy sauce/dip served with Indian chaat snacks or fried snacks like samosa, kachori or pakoda. This chutney can be made with tamarind, dates, and jagerry by boiling with water and exotic spices that ultimately turn in to a spiced sweet and tangy sauce/dip/cutney.
Green chutney is commonly used in Indian cuisine as dip with snacks. sandwiches and chaat. Green chutney aids digestion and enhance flavor and nutrition to any dish. It is one of the basic chutney/dip that is eaten with most of the snacks, sandwiches and chaat. Green chutney is flavorful dip made with fresh mint leaves, fresh cilantro leaves , finely chopped onions ,green chili, lemon juice and salt to taste. I usually make this green chutney when i plan to make samosa, chaat , seekh kebab, burgers, and sandwiches. I store the left over chutney in glass jar and refrigerate it and I will use it in next two days. You can also freeze it in ice tray and use it whenever you need it. However nothing beats the aroma and flavor of freshly ground chutney.
Chonge are sweet puris filled with grated jaggery, grated coconut , dry fruits and desi ghee. It is sweet delicacy enjoyed with lots of desi ghee and yogurt. It’s predominantly prepared in Muslim communities during month of Muharram. This traditional Chonge recipe has been brought to you straight from my kitchen.
