Methi Matar Malai

Methi Matar Malai is a North Indian dish, as the name of this dish says its made of methi, matar and malai (cream). It is very flavorful smooth creamy dish, today i  am showing you a recipe with step by step pictures.


  • Fresh methi 2 bunch
  • Frozen green peas 1 cup
  • Heavy cream 1 cup
  • Ginger paste 1 teaspoon
  • Garlic paste 1 teaspoon
  • Onion diced 1 medium sized
  • Cashew nut 1/2 cup
  • Green chili paste 1 teaspoon
  • Green cardamom 4-5
  • Cinnamon sticks 1 inch
  • Black pepper seeds 10-12
  • Cumin seeds 1 teaspoon
  • Garam masala powder 1 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Kasuri methi crushed 1 teaspoon
  • Oil 2 tablespoon




1-Roughly chop methi leaves wash them and add to boiling water .

2-Allow to boil for 3-4 minutes.

3- Strain it and set aside.

4- Add diced onion and cashew nuts and boil for 5 to 8 minutes.

5- strain it and grind them by adding cardamom, cinnamon  and black pepper to fine paste and set aside.

6- Heat the pan add oil.

7- Add cumin seeds and allow them to crackle.

8- Add ginger garlic paste.

9-Saute for few minutes.

10- Now add methi .

11-Saute for few minutes until its done.

12-Add fine paste of onion cashew nuts and spices.

13-Add turmeric powder and salt to taste and mix well.

14-Add green chili paste mix well, cook for few seconds.

15-Add cream mix well.

16-Add green peas and cook until they are done.

17- Add kasuri methi.

18-Cook for few minutes its ready serve hot with naan chapati.
