Sabudana Vada

Introduction:

Sabudana vada is an Indian dish, typically consumed in Maharashtra, India. It is a deep fried sago-potato dumpling served with spicy green chutney.Mainly eaten during fasting. Sabudana vada is served as an accompaniment to hot masala chai.

 

Ingredients:

  • Sago (sabudana) 1 1/2 cups
  • potatoes( boiled and mashed )3 medium
  • Roasted peanuts, coarsely ground 1 cup
  • Green chilies finely chopped 7 to 8
  • Besan / corn starch  2 teaspoon
  • Fresh coriander leaves,( finely chopped) 1/2 cup
  • Red chili powder 2 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice 2 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil to deep fry

Procedure:

 

 

  1. Soak the sabudana, in enough water to cover it, for about two hours.
  2. .Drain off excess water.
  3. Mix together sabudana, mashed potatoes, ground peanuts,besan, chopped green chilies, coriander leaves, red chili powder, lemon juice and salt,mix thoroughly.
  4. Make a lemon sized balls, flatten between palms of your hands.
  5. Heat sufficient oil in a kadai and deep fry vadas in hot oil till golden brown.
  6. Serve hot with sauce  or green chutney.
  7. Enjoy!!!
