Poha Cutlet


Simple, easy and delicious poha cutlet that can be served for a evening snack with a chutney or dip.  A green chutney or a sauce goes best with these.  cutlets can be baked, deep fried or shallow fried according to your diet and taste.


  •  Soaked poha 1 cup
  • Boiled and smashed potatoes 2 medium sized
  • Green chili 5 to 6 finely chopped
  • Coriander leaves  finely chopped 1/2 cup
  •  Onion finely chopped 1/2 cup
  • Chat masala 1/2  teaspoon
  •  Red  chili powder 1 teaspoon
  • Lemon juice 2 teaspoon
  • Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • Jeera powder 1/2 teaspoon
  •  Azwain 1/2 teaspoon
  • Soda 1 teaspoon
  • Basen 3 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Salt to taste
  • Oil for frying.


  1. Heat pan , add 2 teaspoon of oil, add jeera and mustard seeds heat until they crackle.
  2. Then add chopped onion green chili, coriander leaves, red chili powder,and turmeric powder.
  3. Transfer the entire fried mixture in to smashed potatoes, then add soaked poha ,chat masala, lemon juice, soda  salt to taste,and azwain, turmeric powder mix well.
  4. Make cutlets and deep fry or shallow fry.
  5. If cutlets are spreading in oil then add 1 teaspoon of basen mix  and then fry.
  6. Serve hot with green  chutney,  tomato ketchup.
  7. Enjoy as an evening snack with your family and friends.
