•    For beginners, starting off slowly is a good idea. One must begin to chop one vegetable at a time and beginning with carrot is a wise idea. They must place their hands properly on the vegetable so that their fingers are not in a danger of getting sliced by any means. 

•    After cutting, it is highly imperative to keep the knife in a safe place. Always keep it in a place so that it does not poke anyone and does not fall on the floor too.

•    To keep fingers safe from nicks especially while cutting wobbly vegetables like potatoes, beets and squash, cut thin slices lengthwise with the help of a sharp knife and make a flat side.

•    After this turn the vegetable cut-side down and place it on the chopping board. Such a position will make certain that the vegetable will not roll away and is stable. Slice it as desired and stopping when the vegetable is difficult to grip and also becomes unsteady.

•    Turn the vegetable so that its flat, broad side from which the previous cut is face down towards the cutting board. Repeat the procedure as desired.
