Chutney is spicy preparations used as an accompaniment for a main dish.Chutney is a spice and vegetable mix that complement one another.They are so many variations in chutney. pea nut chutney, dry coconut chutney, tomato chutney so on. I will show you how to make tomato chutney.tomato chutney is serve with biryani  and pulao.



  • Fresh tomatoes (chopped) 5 medium sized
  • Red chili 1 tablespoon
  • Mustard seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • Cumin seeds 1/2 teaspoon
  • Turmeric powder 1/2 teaspoon
  • Curry leaves 4-6
  • Oil 2 tablespoon
  • salt to taste.


  1. Transfer the chopped tomatoes in blending jar and blend to puree and set aside.
  2. Heat a oil in a pan, add mustard seeds ,cumin seeds ,curry leaves, allow it to crackle .
  3. Then add red chili powder and saute for few seconds.
  4. Add tomato puree and salt cook covered for 5 minutes.
  5. Now garnish coriander leaves.
  6. Serve hot with biryani or pulao.
