Donuts

Introduction:

A donut is a type of fried confectionery or desert food.The doughnut or donuts is popular in many countries and prepared in various forms as a sweet snack that can be homemade or purchased in bakeries, food stalls, super markets.They are usually deep fried from a flour dough, and typically either ring-shaped or without a hole and often filled.

Ingredients:

  • Self rising wheat pastry flour or all purpose flour 2 cups
  • Granulated sugar 2 tablespoon (15 grams)
  • Dry active yeast 1 teaspoon (7 grams)
  • Milk 70 ml
  • Water 50 ml
  • Melted butter 1/2 cup
  • Egg 1 (optional)
  • Salt 1 teaspoon (add salt only when you are  using all purpose flour )

Procedure:

    1. In a large  mixing bowl add dry active yeast,granulated sugar,milk ,water and  salt ( add salt only when you are using all purpose flour ,don’t add salt if you are using self rising wheat flour) mix well .
    2. Now add egg and melted butter and mix well.
    3. Add flour and knead the dough, knead the dough well for 5 to 10 minutes.
    4. Let the dough rest  by covering with wet cloth for  about 1 to 2 hours (resting the dough should always be at warm place).
    5. Sprinkle the flour on table and take the dough roll with the rolling pin, and cut the number of donuts you want to cut with the help of cookie cutter, remove the extra dough from the sides then you take smaller round cutter in the center.
    6. Transfer these donuts for dusted tray and allow it to rest for about 20 to 30 minutes.
    7. After 30 minutes deep fry these donuts till golden brown.
    8. Drain out the excess of oil and set aside.

chocolate glaze:

 

Ingredients:

      • Powdered sugar 11/2 cup
      • Milk 2 tablespoon
      • Vanilla extract 1 1/2
      • Unsweetened cocoa powder  4 tablespoon

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl ,whisk together powdered sugar and cocoa powder.slowly stir in milk and vanilla extract .Whisk until silky and smooth.
  2. Dip donuts in chocolate glaze and let rest to harden slightly.
  3. Store the icing at room temperature in an airtight container for 2 weeks.

Pink vanilla glaze:

Ingredients:

  • Powdered sugar 1 1/2 cup
  • Milk 2 tablespoon
  • Vanilla extract 1 teaspoon
  • few drops of pink color

Instructions:

  1. In a medium bowl whisk together all of the ingredients.
  2. Whisk until silky and smooth.
  3. Dip donuts in in pink vanilla glaze and let rest to harden slightly.
  4. Store the icing at room temperature in an airtight container for 2 weeks.

Vanilla glaze:
